World Poker Tour adds Canada series

14th April, 2008

A new series of tournaments running May 5th - 13th has been added to the World Poker Tour (WPT), it has been confirmed.

The Coast to Coast Poker Championship stems from the newly-formed WPT Canada tour and will feature an East v West theme at the River Rock Casino Resort in Richmond, British Columbia.

Canadian poker pro Brad Booth revealed his delight at the series being added to WPT, which already has a number of stop-overs in America.

"I was born and raised in BC (British Columbia) so I'm proud to represent the west in this new Canadian tournament," Mr Booth said. "I challenge all my eastern counterparts to come out to BC so we can show the world who really is at the top of their game."

There will be a total of seven events in the Coast to Coast Poker Championship, with an estimated 2,650 players and a $2.4 million (£1.2 million) prize pool.

If the series sells out, its Texas Hold'Em main event will have a first-place cash prize of $377,300.
