World Tavern Poker tour 'a huge success'
4th December, 2007
The fifth World Tavern Poker tour has been hailed a success after 600 poker players joined in the event which organisers claimed "took poker to a whole new level".
The popular tournament saw poker players from across the US try their luck at the event, which is North America's biggest bar poker league with 75,000 registered players.
Taking place over five days, the tour held in Binion's Gambling Hall, Las Vegas, also welcomed some of the world's top poker players including World Series of Poker champion Greg "Fossilman" Raymer.
Mike Matsinger, founder of World Tavern Poker, said: "Poker tournaments themselves aren't always that exciting, but we add a whole new element with music, unique tournament formats and incredible parties.
"Our players take their poker very seriously, but they know how to have fun as well."
He added: "If you love playing poker and love having a great time, then these events are for you."
The event has turned into the largest World Tavern Poker Open since it was founded back in November 2004.
According to reports, the next World Tavern Poker Open event is due to kick off in Atlantic City in the spring of 2008.
