Young players increasingly interested in online poker

The popularity of online poker is continuing to grow among young players across Europe.

That is according to a new study conducted by Everest Poker and JupiterResearch, which has revealed that the ranks of younger poker players have increased in various countries including Germany, Poland and Sweden.

Almost 3,000 players from 16 countries completed the survey and the results revealed that there has been a notable increase in the number of youngsters aged 18 to 24 and 25 to 34 who have taken up online poker.

For example, those aged 18 to 24 now account for 25 per cent of online poker players in Sweden, while in Hungary this age group accounts for an impressive 61 per cent.

In Germany, the number of players aged 18 to 24 has grown from 17 per cent in 2007 to 41 per cent this year.

The survey also found that the number of female poker players has increased in several countries, such as Spain, where 44 per cent of its online poker players are women.

In Italy, this number is 34 per cent, up from 19 per cent in 2007, and in Germany it is35 per cent up from 32 per cent last year.
