Annette Obrestad

Annette Obrestad has been a legend in the online poker circuit playing as Annette_15. The name stating that she was only 15 when she started playing poker. She says when she started playing online poker she was too young to deposit money, so instead she entered a freeroll and won $9. Since that day she is claiming she has never made a single deposit and has built up a bankroll to several hundred thousand dollars. Whether this is true or not, no one can deny the fact she is a sensational poker player. Annette is from a small town in Norway with a mother that disapproved of her career path but she says to her mum, now I will buy a house, after winning £1 million pounds at the WSOPE main event 2007.

Annette greatest win online was the $500k guarantee on Full Tilt poker scooping $117 000 for first place. Annette has recently agreed a sponsorship deal with which means she is going to become a regular scene on the live circuit. Her live circuit started in London with the WSOPE in the main event. Annette proved herself by being the youngest player to win a WSOP bracelet. “I never expected to win,” said the composed and articulate Obrestad, who is about to turn 19. “I’m speechless. I really don’t know what to say.”

The question a lot of people are asking is why she is so good at such a young age. What it boils down to is her aggressive play; she is constantly raising up pre flop with marginal hands and outplaying her opponents after the flop.

Annette recently played a $4 sit and go with 180 players and won. This seems like not much of a big achievement for a player of this caliber, but what if you where told she played blind (covering up her cards). Annette helps to prove here how important it is to play position and to pay attention to what your opponents are doing. Annette is clearly an inspiration to all poker players and expect to be seeing a lot more of her online and live.
